Frequently asked questions
The practical questions that often come before a first appointment.
If your question is not answered here, contact the office. It is better to clarify something directly than to guess.
Who does Pathways work with?
Pathways works with children, teens, adults, parents, and families. Individual clinician age ranges and areas of focus vary, so the office can help you think through fit.
Where is the office?
Our office is located at 130 N. Main Street, Suite 202, New City, NY 10956. Parking is available directly in front of the building.
Do you offer telehealth?
Telehealth is available for eligible clients when remote care is an appropriate fit. Clients generally need to be located in New York at the time of service unless the clinician is otherwise authorized to provide care in that location.
Do you take insurance?
Insurance participation can vary by clinician and can change over time. Please contact the office before beginning care so current participation and expected costs can be confirmed. You can also review our Insurance & Fees page.
How long are sessions?
The current public practice information describes initial sessions as approximately one hour and subsequent sessions as typically 45 minutes. Your clinician or the office can confirm timing for the specific service you are considering.
How do I choose a clinician?
You do not have to choose on your own. Tell the office the age of the person seeking care, what you would generally like help with, and any scheduling or format needs. We can discuss who may be worth considering based on fit and availability.
Can parents be involved in a child or teen’s therapy?
Parent involvement depends on age, needs, goals, privacy considerations, and the type of care. It may include parent check-ins, coaching, family sessions, or other collaboration when appropriate.
Do you offer groups?
The practice has offered structured social-skills and therapeutic groups. Specific offerings change over time, so contact the office for current group availability rather than relying on an older program listing.
What should I include in a consultation request?
Keep it simple: who is seeking care, a general description of what you are looking for help with, and any practical needs such as scheduling, in-person versus telehealth, or insurance questions.
Can I send detailed clinical information through the website?
Please keep website inquiries general and avoid submitting highly sensitive clinical or emergency information. Once care is established, the office can direct you to the appropriate secure communication method.
What if this is an emergency?
Pathways website forms and routine office communication are not emergency services. If there is an immediate safety concern or medical emergency, call 911 or use the appropriate local emergency resource.
