Our practice
Care that starts with understanding.
Pathways of Rockland County is a psychology and counseling practice in New City, New York, serving children, teens, adults, parents, and families in person and through telehealth when appropriate.
How we think about care
Before deciding what should change, it helps to understand what is happening.
People rarely arrive in therapy as a single symptom. A child’s anxiety may be tied to school, friendships, family stress, temperament, or the way everyone has learned to respond to difficult moments. An adult may come in feeling overwhelmed and discover that relationships, boundaries, work, or earlier experiences are part of the picture.
Our clinicians use evidence-informed approaches, but the work is not meant to feel like a formula. Treatment should make sense for the person, developmental stage, relationships, environment, strengths, and goals in front of us.
The aim is not only to understand more. It is to help create changes that can be felt outside the therapy room.
Understand first
Context, strengths, needs, and goals come before assumptions about what treatment should look like.
Work together
Clients and families are active participants in deciding what matters and how to approach it.
Keep it useful
The work should connect to everyday life at home, school, work, and in relationships.
Adjust when needed
Good care changes as needs, goals, circumstances, and understanding change.
