Who we help · Children

Support for children when something feels off, stuck, or harder than usual.

Children do not always have the words to explain what is bothering them. Worry, frustration, behavior changes, school difficulties, or problems with friends can sometimes be the first signs that they need more support.

You may be noticing…

Every child is different. Families often reach out when one or more of these concerns are getting in the way of everyday life:

  • Frequent worry, fears, perfectionism, or avoidance
  • Big emotional reactions, irritability, or difficulty calming down
  • Changes in behavior at home or school
  • School stress, attention or organization difficulties, or school avoidance
  • Friendship challenges, social anxiety, or low confidence
  • Difficulty adjusting to family changes, transitions, or loss

How we think about the work

Children make sense of the world differently than adults.

Therapy should meet them there. Depending on age and need, sessions may include conversation, play or creative activities, skill-building, behavioral strategies, and practical ways to recognize and manage emotions.

Parents are often an important part of the work. Your child’s clinician can help determine when caregiver involvement, parent coaching, or coordination around school concerns may be useful.

01

Understand what is happening

Give feelings, behaviors, and patterns language that makes sense to the child and family.

02

Build useful skills

Practice coping, emotional regulation, problem-solving, communication, and other tools that can carry into daily life.

03

Support the environment around them

When helpful, involve caregivers and consider what is happening at home, school, and in relationships.
